Sanitation Supervisor

SALARY: $47,123.48

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supervising the Authority’s daily sold waste collection and
transportation services.
- Manages and oversees the solid waste collection truck drivers, equipment operators
and the solid waste collectors. Sets staff objectives and goals to improve efficiency
and customer service.
- Responsible for responding to customer complaints and/or concerns in a manner
which builds customer satisfaction.
- Monitors the scheduling and routings for solid waste collection and, make
adjustments where required to improve efficiency and service.
- Ensure that assigned vehicles are properly maintained and ensures that an adequate
number of vehicles are available to meet Authority’s waste collection requirements.
- Oversee the activities of solid waste collection contractors and private haulers.
- Responsible for ensuring that assigned staff receives the proper orientation, safety,
transportation, emergency response and environmental training.
- Responsible for providing input to the Director of Collections and Recycling
Operations on potential operating and capital improvements to improve solid waste
collection and transportation services.
- Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Two to five years of relevant experience including least one year of supervisory
experience managing a solid waste collection system, a landfill, waste transfer
station or environmental service activity.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
