The Commercial Driver will be frequently driving between job sites, company warehouses, or a combination, as well as readily working on industrial and commercial construction sites. He/she will be capable of safely securing and transporting construction materials and heavy equipment to various job sites, while in compliance with both company and DOT standards. They will also be required to perform vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain logs of vehicle servicing and repair, and working hours in compliance with both federal and state regulations.
The Commercial Driver must have a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (“CDL”) license, with current knowledge and understanding of all DOT regulations and electronic logbooks. Effective communication and listening skills and an ability to travel are prerequisites of working at this position.
The position requires moderate to heavy physical work, under all environmental conditions. Good physical conditioning is important to success in the position. A Commercial Driver must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., as needed. The person must be able to move up and down on ladders, steps, or other lifts, as needed. They must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions and/or unregulated temperatures for 10-14 hours per day (per federal law, no more than 11 hours consecutively and where state law permits). Familiarity with the use of all common hand and power tools, is a pre-requisite. This position may require out of state travel and the ability to work away from home, on occasion, during peak seasons.
Regardless of prior formal training or experience, a Commercial Driver must demonstrate the ability to carry out, or quickly learn, and competently execute all essential functions of the position on the job.
Employment is subject to a Department of Transportation regulated pre-employment physical, drug screening, and successful issuance of a DOT Medical Card.
