Start your mechanical career with the Department of Transportation, Sullivan County Maintenance Organization as a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position focuses on learning how to maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles and equipment under the guidance of experienced staff. You will support safe transportation services while helping you build strong technical skills. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

Repair Assistance: Assist with repairs and overhauls of cars, trucks, and construction equipment

Maintenance Training: Learn and participate in preventative maintenance tasks on vehicles and equipment

Diagnostic Support: Help identify equipment problems using diagnostic tools and established procedures

Inspection Participation: Take part in safety and emissions inspection activities and related documentation when applicable

Safety Practices: Learn proper safety procedures, hazard recognition, and accident prevention methods

Field Adjustments: Assist with routine adjustments and minor repairs to support safe equipment operation
Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM, or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. (Shift will be determined by seniority)

May require travel, overtime, and dual shifts. Work hours may vary during winter season.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,844 (before taxes).
