Alt’s Operation is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Fertilizer Technician to join our turf care team. This role is responsible for applying fertilizer and turf products accurately and safely across residential and commercial properties while delivering high-quality customer service.
Position Summary
The Fertilizer Technician performs lawn fertilization and related turf applications according to product labels, agronomic standards, and company procedures. The technician ensures equipment readiness, accurate documentation, and clean, professional job execution while maintaining company vehicles and application equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply fertilizers and turf products at correct rates and intervals across assigned properties
- Place application warning flags in proper locations following service
- Complete service receipts accurately and deliver to customers after application
- Follow assigned daily routes and schedules
- Maintain trailer organization, cleanliness, and product readiness
- Utilize LMN software properly for routing, documentation, and reporting
- Perform weekly truck and trailer inspections
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform routine maintenance
- Calibrate application equipment to ensure accurate product delivery
- Monitor and report product inventory levels
- Read and follow product labels and SDS sheets for safe handling and application
- Apply herbicides (including Roundup) in landscape beds and pavement cracks
- Apply pre-emergent products (e.g., Snapshot)
- Perform lawn aeration services
- Complete daily reporting to supervisor
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned (including non-fertilization tasks)
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret product labels and safety data sheets
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow application rates precisely
- Ability to work independently and follow routes efficiently
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment care and calibration
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Wisconsin Turf 3.0 Certification (required)
- Flexible work schedule based on season and workload
- Typical start time 7:00 AM
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
