The Philadelphia Research and Education Foundation (PREF) is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that supports the Philadelphia VA (Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center). Our mission is to lead the nation in advancing Veterans’ health and well-being through research and education.
The CMCVAMC Precision Oncology Center of Excellence and Cancer Clinical Research Center is expanding its clinical research efforts in therapeutic trials and cancer genetics to improve access to precision oncology clinical care and research across the local region. To ensure the program meets its scientific and organizational objectives, we are seeking an experienced research project manager to support this program by overseeing operational, personnel, funding, regulatory, and other management needs. The PM will work with a cross functional research team including physicians, nurses, research coordinators, scientists, and students and also interact with many external stakeholders within the local, regional and national VA system, as well as with non-VA academic partners.
The project manager’s job will include high level planning and coordination while ensuring that the research activities remain compliant with federal, state and institutional guidelines.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee all budgets including salary grids, other funding allocation, funding projections, budget modifications, managing accounts (Federal, foundation, and industry grants) in conjunction with non-profit and academic affiliate. Work with PIs and administrators to ensure funding sustainability.
- Collaborate with regulatory coordinator to oversee preparation and maintenance of regulatory documents for human subjects research projects. Monitor submission timelines, ensuring progress toward approval.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and training of research team. Delegate tasks, provide support and guidance, and evaluate performance of team members.
- Coordinate with clinical trials program manager, laboratory staff, and PIs to ensure successful, compliant local participation in clinical trials and observational studies.
- Develop and implement program infrastructure, including SOPs and tracking tools, to improve coordination and team capacity.
- Prepare presentations and reports for other investigators, collaborating institutions, and funders.
- Serve as liaison between local and external research investigators (VA and non-VA), VA Research administration, affiliated university, regulatory committees, research non-profit corporation, and partnering clinical services. Facilitate timely issue resolution and project advancement.
Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience with clinical research project management.
- Experience with management and program development required, including managing staff.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in health-related discipline preferred.
- Experience working within or with a VA or another federal agency preferred but not required.
- Experience with research regulatory submissions, including IRB, strongly preferred.
- Experience with grant budget management required. Pre- and post-award experience preferred.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Proven ability to learn and apply new concepts, work collaboratively, organize and prioritize tasks, and problem-solve effectively. Must be detail oriented.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
