Softball Pitching & Hitting Coach / Program DirectorTexas Edge Sports Training
Texas Edge Sports Training is looking for an experienced and motivated Softball Pitching & Hitting Coach to lead and grow our softball training program.
This position is different from a traditional private-lesson coaching role. Our training model is built around consistent athlete development through small-group training, objective performance tracking, and coaches working together to create a complete development plan for each athlete.
The right candidate will have a strong understanding of both softball pitching and hitting and will be responsible for helping build, organize, and lead a softball development program based on the same principles as our T.E.S.T. Program—Texas Edge Sports Training.
Our goal is simple: give athletes more opportunities to train, provide high-quality coaching and repetitions throughout the week, and create measurable improvement.
What You'll Do
The Softball Pitching & Hitting Coach will be responsible for leading small-group training sessions and helping oversee the development of softball athletes within the facility.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead softball pitching and throwing development sessions.
- Lead softball hitting development sessions.
- Evaluate athletes and identify mechanical, physical, and developmental areas that need improvement.
- Create and implement individualized development plans within a small-group training environment.
- Teach pitching mechanics, command, velocity development, pitch development, approach, and game strategy.
- Teach hitting mechanics, timing, swing efficiency, power development, approach, and pitch selection.
- Provide athletes with clear adjustments and the repetitions necessary to reinforce those changes.
- Track athlete development and communicate progress with athletes and parents.
- Use performance technology and objective testing to help evaluate and measure improvement.
- Work alongside our strength and athletic-performance coaches to identify physical limitations that may affect pitching, hitting, throwing, or overall performance.
- Help create a competitive, encouraging, and accountable training environment.
- Assist with periodic specialty training opportunities such as defensive work, live at-bats, performance testing, camps, clinics, and other softball development sessions.
- Help grow and develop the softball training program at Texas Edge Sports Training.
How Our Training Model Works
Rather than relying primarily on one private lesson each week, our athletes have opportunities to train consistently throughout the week.
Sessions are intentionally kept small and athletes are grouped with players of similar ages and abilities. This allows coaches to provide individual instruction and adjustments while creating the energy, accountability, and healthy competition that comes from training alongside other athletes.
Our coaches don't simply give athletes drills. We want them to understand what needs to improve, why it needs to improve, and how to make the adjustment.
The process is simple:
Evaluate. Adjust. Train. Repeat. Measure.
Athlete progress is tracked through objective testing and training technology so coaches, athletes, and parents can see measurable development over time.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing softball players and takes pride in the improvement of the athletes they coach.
The ideal candidate:
- Has significant softball playing and/or coaching experience.
- Has a strong understanding of softball pitching mechanics and development.
- Has a strong understanding of hitting mechanics and offensive development.
- Can effectively identify mechanical issues and communicate adjustments in a way young athletes can understand.
- Understands that athlete development requires more than simply running drills.
- Is comfortable coaching athletes in a small-group environment.
- Can provide individual feedback while managing multiple athletes effectively.
- Is energetic, encouraging, competitive, and demanding in a positive way.
- Communicates well with athletes, parents, and other coaches.
- Is organized, dependable, and professional.
- Is willing to collaborate with other coaches rather than operate independently.
- Wants to help build a program rather than simply show up and give lessons.
Preferred Experience
Preferred candidates may have experience in one or more of the following:
- College softball playing experience
- High school, select/travel, or collegiate softball coaching
- Softball pitching instruction
- Hitting instruction
- Athlete development or player-development programs
- Strength and performance training
- HitTrax, Rapsodo, Pocket Radar, or similar training technology
College playing experience is valuable, but the ability to coach, communicate, and develop athletes is more important than playing credentials alone.
The Athlete Experience
We want athletes to leave training knowing exactly what they are working on and why.
Our coaches are expected to build relationships with their athletes, hold them accountable, celebrate their progress, and create an environment where players want to come back and work.
This is not a position for someone looking to simply fill an hour with drills.
We are looking for a coach who wants to take ownership of athlete development and help build one of the strongest softball training programs in the area.
