Essential Functions include:
Client Care and Services
- Ensures proper adherence to client’s individualized training goals/service plans and that the proper documentation is generated to support it.
- Works effectively with the nursing staff to meet all the healthcare needs of the clients including medical appointments and necessary follow-up.
- Ensures client medications are supervised and documented correctly and that medications are safeguarded and in stock.
- Ensures clients are following requisite diets and required food items are available.
- Involves clients in the creation of an appropriate monthly activity calendar.
- Ensures all incident, injury and behavior reports are created and communicated appropriately.
Facility, Vehicles and Property
- Ensures facilities are well maintained and meet Reach’s cleanliness standards.
- Inspects vehicles to ensure they are safe and in good working condition and that they receive scheduled maintenance.
- Ensures staff are trained in the proper operation of any special equipment such as wheelchair lifts or ramps.
- Requests client funds and Reach activity funds and safeguards these funds per Reach policy.
Managing Direct-Care Staff
- Participates in the interviewing, selection and hiring process and in setting performance expectations.
- Provides on-the-job training for staff and facilitates staff compliance with all ongoing training requirements.
- Assures adequate staff coverage by coordinating schedules, approving PTO requests and obtaining the proper approval for any overtime.
- Correctly applies company policy when reviewing and approving timecards.
- Monitors staff performance and provides corrective action if needed and conducts periodic performance evaluations.
- Applies company policies appropriately, fairly and consistently to promote good employee relations.
- Properly interprets company policies and procedures for staff.
Cost Containment
- Contains all controllable costs without sacrificing high quality client care.
- Involves direct care staff in creating and submitting cost-cutting plans.
- Scores well on Reach’s monthly cost containment dashboard reports in areas such as: overtime containment, food and supplies, activity expenses, fuel and utilities, etc.
- Utilizes all company resources efficiently and reduces wastefulness.
- Makes decisions that consistently result in cost effective outcomes.
Cooperation and Teamwork
- Cooperates with all Reach staff and maintains a good working relationship with all coworkers including: program management staff, nursing staff, direct care staff and external stakeholders such as parents, family members, healthcare providers and pharmacy staff.
- Maintains flexibility in working hours to allow for individual training and direct observation of evening, weekend, and overnight staff.
Regulatory and Reach Policy and Procedure Compliance
- Maintains a working knowledge of regulatory rules and standards that apply to the program.
- Demonstrates a proper understanding of Reach policies, procedures and rules of conduct and can interpret these policies to staff.
- Ensures all staff have knowledge of emergency procedures including evacuations and conducting fire drill exercises
