SUPERVISOR: Building Safety Manager
Pay range: Building Inspector-$27.89 to $45.42/hr.
Sr. Building Inspector_$32.29 to $52.57/hr.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Building Safety Manager, reviews building applications and plans, and performs skilled field inspection work to assure compliance with established codes, laws, and regulations. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three years’ experience in construction at journeyman and/or foreman level or in building inspection.
- Must possess or have ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
- Must possess or have ability to obtain within four months of employment and maintain Certification as a Building Inspector by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Construction Industries Division (C.I.D.).
- Must possess or have ability to obtain and maintain certification by International Code Council (I.C.C.) as a residential and commercial building inspector within one year of employment.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Sr. Building Inspector:
- Additional three years’ experience as a building inspector.
- Must possess and maintain certification as an ICC Building Plans Examiner.
- Must possess and maintain one of the ICC certifications from the list below:
Residential Plans Examiner.
Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner.
Certified Building Official; or,
Other acceptable ICC certifications as submitted.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Building Technology or related field.
- Supervisor experience.
- Multiple certifications: Plumbing, Mechanical Inspector, Electrical Inspector.
