The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE 4K Teacher at Summit Environmental School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Projected start date: August 11, 2026.
Wisconsin certification 1088 with appropriate low/high grade required. Early Childhood preferred.
Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
- Ability to collaborate with early childhood professionals (e.g. Early Childhood-Special Education, Preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade).
- Ability to work with sensitivity in a multicultural setting with children of all abilities.
- Excellence in using developmentally appropriate practices and hands-on learning.
- Conversant with current strategies for emergent readers, math manipulation and thematic curriculum.
- Knowledge of current early childhood literature and approaches to teaching/learning.
- Adaptable to changing educational settings.
- Ability to develop successful parent engagement activities.
- Knowledge of a play-based preschool model of instruction and a firm understanding of the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards.
Other skills and dispositions:
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families.
- Manage schedules including lessons, play, breaks and meals.
- Strong understanding of child behavior, Pyramid Model practices, and evidence based practices to prevent, teach and reinforce behavior.
Responsibilities include teaming with a teacher assistant and community outreach as assigned.
