Overview
May Herr & Grosh LLP, a long-standing Lancaster County general practice law firm, is growing. We are seeking an experienced full-time Legal Assistant to work on a variety of matters that may include estate planning, estate administration, personal injury, business, real estate or family law. This in-office position requires duties such as communicating with clients, backup telephone answering, efficient typing and document formatting, drafting and preparing legal documents and correspondence, effectively managing deadlines, opening, maintaining and closing files, multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize, and collaborating in a positive way with other staff and attorneys.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm. This position is on location in our Lancaster offices, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm.
Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy.
- Proofread and format documents with a keen eye to detail.
- Open and close files and maintain organized files and records using case management software.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date records.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and court dates for attorneys while managing their schedules effectively.
- Handle client communications by telephone and email with professionalism and timeliness.
- Able to follow procedures and work both independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of previous experience as a Legal Assistant is preferred.
- Prefer minimum of an Associate's Degree in a business or legal field
- Type at least 60 WPM
- High competence utilizing Outlook, Word and Excel along with experience utilizing case management software.
- Familiarity with one or more areas of law such as estate planning, estate administration, personal injury, business, real estate or family law is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with effective phone etiquette.
- Experience with document management systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
Additional Information
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 am to 5pm in our Lancaster, PA offices.
