Sales Manager, Specialty Snack

A specialty food company focused on premium nuts and Mediterranean snack products is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead wholesale and retail channel expansion across national and regional accounts. This is a hands-on, field-facing role responsible for new account acquisition, contract negotiation, shelf placement, and account growth with major retail chains, club stores, and wholesale distributors. The position also carries responsibility for building and managing a sales team as the company scales, and includes cross-sell opportunity into a sister brand carrying premium Mediterranean specialty items.
Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with travel to retail accounts, trade events, and distributor meetings as business development requires.
$80,000 - $100,000 Per Year
You will identify, pursue, and secure new high-volume business opportunities with major retail chains, club stores, and wholesale distributors, expanding distribution and increasing shelf presence across national and regional accounts. Target retail partners include large-format grocery, club, and mass retail channels. You will lead commercial negotiations for pricing, promotions, annual agreements, contracts, and shelf placement, and you will manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through close and account onboarding.
On the account management side, you will maintain and grow relationships with existing retail buyers, category managers, and merchandising teams, presenting new products, seasonal programs, and promotional opportunities to maximize same-store sales performance. You will also identify and pursue cross-sell opportunities with the company's sister Mediterranean specialty brand where appropriate.
You will collaborate closely with Operations, Logistics, Marketing, and Finance teams to ensure seamless execution of distribution expansion and promotional programs. As the company grows, you will build, mentor, and manage a sales organization, establishing processes and performance standards for the team.
- 5 or more years of experience managing national retail and wholesale accounts in a sales or account management capacity
- Deep background in consumer packaged goods (CPG), food, snack, confectionery, or specialty foods
- Demonstrated track record of opening major retail and wholesale channels, negotiating large-scale contracts, and meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and contract structuring skills
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Logistics, Marketing, and Finance in a CPG or food manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Established relationships with buyers at major national retailers, grocery chains, or club stores such as Costco, Sam's Club, Kroger, Albertsons, Whole Foods, Walmart, or Target
- Experience managing or building a sales team in a growing CPG or specialty food company
- Familiarity with broker networks, distributor management, and retail merchandising programs
- Experience with premium, natural, or specialty food categories
- Prior experience with Mediterranean, international, or ethnic specialty food brands
