Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technical Lead to oversee maintenance operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This leadership role is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating maintenance activities, troubleshooting automated equipment, and ensuring facility and production systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in industrial automation, preventive maintenance, and team leadership, with a proven ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily maintenance and repair activities for production equipment, automated systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Assign, prioritise, and coordinate work for a multi-skilled maintenance team to ensure timely completion of maintenance requests.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs, including preventive maintenance completion rates, equipment downtime, and overtime utilisation.
- Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, leave requests, and workforce planning.
- Coordinate procurement of maintenance parts, materials, rental equipment, and external services.
- Maintain inventory levels for maintenance supplies and critical spare parts.
- Serve as the primary contact for facility maintenance services, including janitorial and waste management providers.
- Conduct environmental inspections and oversee waste disposal activities.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.
- Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial automation experience, including project management responsibilities.
- Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment and industrial control systems.
- Proven maintenance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop maintenance teams.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to support production operations across all shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence programmes.
- Previous leadership experience in a union manufacturing environment.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Red X, or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
