American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)

Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2
-
ICU unit serving a diverse and complex patient population including respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis

Unit also covers pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries, medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant patients, and end-of-life/organ donation cases

Specialized equipment includes IV pumps for titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart

Charting performed in Epic (experience required)

Every other weekend required

Floating within service line to other ICU units as needed

No on-call requirements

Block scheduling is not available

Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; pending IL license may be accepted with notation

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required

Experience in both Medical ICU and Surgical ICU settings required

Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, blood product administration, CRRT/dialysis, phlebotomy, and wound/drain/wound vac care

Epic EMR experience required

First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

13-week contract with option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required

Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
-
Navy scrubs required

Monthly parking passes are available through the facility's Public Safety department
