Job Summary
The Team Leader coordinates and directs daily warehouse operations while supporting the Group Leader in achieving operational goals. Working within the Toyota Production System (TPS) environment, this role ensures the safe, accurate, and efficient handling of materials, equipment, and inventory. The Team Leader serves as the primary point of contact for assigned team members during the shift, promotes continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with company, client, OSHA, and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all warehouse procedures, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed daily.
- Assign, monitor, and support daily work activities for warehouse team members.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, logs, checklists, and computerized system entries.
- Review and update SOPs, FMDS boards, and operational reports as required.
- Support production flow by identifying operational issues and reporting concerns to leadership.
- Ensure materials are properly stored, staged, loaded, unloaded, and moved according to procedures.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, client requirements, OSHA regulations, and government standards.
- Enforce workplace safety practices including PPE usage, housekeeping standards, and equipment operation guidelines.
- Participate in safety checks, hazard identification, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate shift expectations, assignments, and operational updates.
- Coordinate manpower adjustments to meet production and workload demands.
- Serve as the communication link between team members, management, and warehouse personnel.
- Conduct equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair issues promptly.
- Cross-train in multiple warehouse functions to provide operational coverage when needed.
- Support Kaizen and TPS initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and productivity.
- Perform additional duties assigned by leadership to support warehouse operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience required.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment preferred.
- Strong leadership, team building, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and warehouse management systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate radios, scanners, and warehouse-related equipment.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on operational demands.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 lbs regularly.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily on the warehouse floor with exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and occasional outdoor conditions. The role requires maintaining a high level of safety awareness while supporting daily warehouse and production operations.
