Duties
- Assist with landscape maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, planting flowers, and weeding garden beds.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely for tasks including edging, pruning, and debris removal.
- Support irrigation system installation, inspection, repair, and ongoing management to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns.
- Identify various plants, trees, and shrubs to support horticultural health and landscape design.
- Help with pesticide management by following safety protocols when applying treatments to control pests and diseases.
- Maintain hardscape features such as pathways, patios, or retaining walls by performing routine cleaning and minor repairs.
- Follow all safety procedures diligently during outdoor work activities to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment.
- Assist in general groundskeeping tasks including trash removal, soil aeration, fertilization, and seasonal clean-up efforts.
Qualifications
- Prior outdoor work experience or familiarity with grounds maintenance is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic mechanical knowledge related to landscaping equipment operation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of landscape maintenance practices including mowing, gardening, lawn care, and hardscape upkeep.
- Ability to operate hand tools (such as pruners or shovels), power tools (like trimmers or blowers), and irrigation systems safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of plant identification techniques along with horticulture principles for healthy plant growth.
- Familiarity with pesticide management procedures adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to stand, walk, bend, lift heavy objects safely.
