GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The CAD Technician I provides technical drafting support to the
engineering and surveying teams. This entry-level position focuses
on the preparation of civil drawings, boundary surveys, and technical
deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The technician will assist senior
staff with drafting tasks, data interpretation, and plan production
while ensuring accuracy and adherence to company standards.
This role requires strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn,
and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create, modify, and finalize technical drawings and survey deliverables.
- Produce drawings following company CAD standards (layers, scales, colors, line types).
- Assist with updates and corrections to existing drawings based on engineering markups.
- Review and interpret topographic survey data to ensure accurate representation of site conditions.
- Research property records (deeds, plats, title reports) to verify ownership and boundaries.
- Draft metes and bounds exhibits when required.
- Communicate with engineers, surveyors, and city agencies to gather necessary project data.
- Assist in creating boundary stakeout points and identifying monument placement needs.
- Maintain organized project documentation and submit completed work per internal procedures.
- Provide internal support regarding boundaries, easements, setbacks, and survey-related inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
- Basic understanding of engineering and technical drawing principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

This position operates primarily in an office environment using computers and standard office equipment. While performing job duties, the employee may be required to:

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is based in a professional office setting with occasional visits

- Drafting certificate or coursework in CAD preferred.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field is a plus.
- 1-2 years of drafting or related experience preferred.
- Familiarity with civil/site design or surveying concepts is a plus.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
