Weekend Job! Are you an early morning person looking for a longterm caregiving position with one unique patient in her home?
We are looking for early morning, long-term, hands-on care for my wife in her 70s in our home. Susan has an incomplete, C1 – C2 spinal cord injury. She needs total care with her ADLs and is happy and healthy with her activity and routines. This caregiving job is great for those who are interested in learning from a unique, motivated quadriplegic patient who has a very active routine.
CNA skills required with work experience, dependability, and references. You will also learn to perform her daily physical therapy needs. This care takes place in our private home setting.
Various Daily Activities: ADL’s (hygiene, range of motion, exercise, transfers, food, toileting, and tidying up), performing physical therapy, organizing, laundry, assist in computer time. Physical therapy/exercise equipment include: Electrical Stationary Bike, Easy Stand, Rifton walker, etc.
This shift is 6:30 AM to 3:30 pm, 3-4 days/week, rotate days/weekends.
Applicants should be fit, withOUT chronic pain (such as back/joint pain, arthritis, aggravating injuries, etc.) and NO chronic illness. Susan's care is active and requires her caregivers to move her body. Some daily activities required are patient transfers, upright kneeling on a cushion bedside for 20 minutes each day, moving back and forth from standing to sitting on the ground, assisting Susan in Rifton walker, passive range of motion for 60-120 minutes each day, etc.
This job is VERY active. This patient requires a very active lifestyle to stay healthy. She requires the active assistance of her caregiver. This patient requires both active and passive range of motion and exercises. It's a HUGE plus if you have experience in physical therapy, sports, exercise program, and/or performing range of motion. Body awareness is necessary since you are moving her body for her.
Located a couple of minutes from I-37 North bound exit 14B Redbird Lane, in the Calallen area of Corpus Christi. Applicant must have a reliable car and a current license. There are no bus stops nearby. Please check your commute before applying.
This position requires dependability as this is in her home and not a facility. For example: you have child care, back-up care for your primary child care, and back-up for your back-up child care. Because this is not a facility, there is not another caregiver already present to cover an absence.
After the interview process, you will observe one shift to determine if you want to commit to training. Training by current caregiving staff is provided during the weekdays. You should be prepared to train 3-4 days straight before working on your own. Training is hands on and the quicker you learn her routine, the quicker you can work on your own. We pay for your training hours AFTER you start working on your own at a rate of $12/hr.
Once working on your own after training, Your pay rate starts at $15/hr and can go up by $1/hr increases (reviews are every 8-10 shifts) to ultimately get you to $20/hr. Pay rate increases are determined by a series of characteristics including candidate's quickness to learn and perform the patient's routine, reliability, timeliness, efficiency, clear communication, listening to Susan, attention to detail, etc.
