UPMC Harrisburg is hiring a Manager, APP (CRNP, or PA, Senior) to support Magee Women's Health in Central PA.
Hours: Monday-Friday - 8 hr shifts

Position Specifics: The Magee-Womens Service Line in central PA is a large, growing, integrated network providing comprehensive women's healthcare across Central Pennsylvania. A key initiative is the establishment of a new role for a dedicated APP leadership model, structured as 0.5 FTE administrative and 0.5 FTE clinical, ensuring continued direct patient care while providing leadership oversight for more than 55 APPs. This role will lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, mentoring, performance management, continuing education, and the development of a standardized APP orientation and training curriculum, while supporting peer review, scope-of-practice oversight, and workforce engagement initiatives.
Purpose:
Oversees APP activities within the Women’s Health Service Line for UPMC. Supports administrative and clinical responsibilities. Administrative responsibilities will include development of an APP Women’s Health training orientation and training curriculum, serve as a peer reviewer for Women’s Health APP performance evaluation and scope of practice , oversee and execute programming related to Women’s Health APP continuing education, retention, and clinical care delivery. This position will report directly to the Executive Administrator or Director. This position will also have a reporting relationship to the Vice President, and Sr. Director Advanced Practice, for APP-specific clinical care delivery and programming.
Responsibilities:
- Human Resources CoordinationCoordination with department leader and HR offices around position classificationsCoordination and consultation around compensation, incentive programs. Support thecreation, development, and implementation of system-wide Women’s Health Initiatives (e.g.:utilization of evidence based pathways, top of license APP practice etc.)Consultation around optimal use of APP resources within the UPMC Women’s Health Service Line and outpatient practices. Coordination with requests for program developmentCollaborates with HR to develop and execute APP specific recruitment, retention and management programming

Credentialing Serves as primary advisor and authority on Women’s Health APP credentialing and privileging processes with UPMC Credentials Verification Office and UPMC in Central PA Medical Staff OfficeChampions and support s optimizing top of license practice, Collaborative Practice agreements, including library of existing agreements and sample templates

Quality Assessment and Improvement1. Establish productivity standards, expectations, and reporting2. Master data base of QI meeting schedules between APP and Collaborating Physician 3. Establishes the vision and direction for the Advanced Practice Provider Program contributions to the organization’s strategic priorities in collaboration with nursing and physician leaders. Collaborates with clinicians to ensure practice is evidence-based: identifies, reviews, and applies evidence to guidelines and standards for patient care.Develops and oversees principles of acceptable professional practice for the Women’s Health Service Line.Designs, develops, implements, and manages the Advanced Practice Provider Transition to Practice, and related programs Commits to regular time in the clinical area in order to maintain competence providing patient care. Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant required. Previous experience in progressive clinical and administrative leadership roles and responsibilities A demonstrated excellence in clinical care delivery and professional leadership Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider reimbursement regulations and standards, as well as, documentation and collaboration/supervision requirements. Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider accreditation standards and Federal and Commonwealth medical licensure and registration requirements. Knowledge of Federal and Commonwealth regulations, legislative processes and governmental agencies pertaining to the clinical practice of primary categories of Advanced Practice Providers. Understanding of operational, documentation, and reimbursement requirements of Advanced Practice Providers in diverse clinical settings. Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider educational requirements and associated program requirements (i.e., collaborative agreement, rotation requirements, program accreditation, policies and procedures). Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively in a positive manner with system-wide executive leadership, -Advanced Practice Providers, physicians, and departmental management. Skilled at negotiations and reaching settlements in disputes. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to prioritize, meets deadlines, complete multiple tasks in a limited period of time and handle large volumes of paperwork efficiently. Ability to recognize major issues confronting the health care industry relative to the practice and deployment of Advanced Practice Providers in all health care settings. Strong technical, analytical, and judgment skills to interpret regulations and supervise staff.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Active Pennsylvania state licensure as either a physician assistant or nurse practitioner
