The IT Analyst/ Programmer is a mid-level technical role reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Technology Services (ITS) in the Division of Information Technology (DoIT). The analyst will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing new systems, as well as modifying and maintaining existing infrastructure. The role supports the institution’s administrative operations, including the Offices of Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar, Alumni Affairs, Development, Human Resources, and Business & Finance.
This position requires strong technical expertise in server management, backups, and security, along with the ability to manage IT projects and communicate effectively with leadership and campus stakeholders.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure operations including storage systems, email services, Active Directory, and backups.
- Oversee and execute project tasks, timelines, and deliverables related to IT infrastructure.
- Present technical initiatives and updates to the Director of ITS and the Assistant Vice President for IT.
- Manage and maintain servers, network hardware, and applicable security solutions.
- Implement and enforce IT policies and procedures, including standards for system architecture, disaster recovery, and security compliance.
- Monitor systems for performance, integrity, and availability; review logs and ensure timely completion of backup operations.
- Troubleshoot and recover from system failures, coordinate response and communication with stakeholders.
- Apply system patches and software updates; configure and deploy new services as needed.
- Develop and maintain system installation and configuration procedures and documentation.
- Maintain compliance with CIS and/or NIST cybersecurity frameworks where applicable.
- Provide end-user support and technical troubleshooting for both Windows and Mac OS environments.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Experience managing infrastructure in Windows Server 2012/2016 environments.
- Proficiency with Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with Windows and macOS desktop support.
- Working knowledge of firewalls, networking protocols, and system security.
- Experience with Dell blade server setup and configuration.
- Understanding spam mitigation techniques.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner or other higher education ERP systems is preferred.
