Our goal is to offer a welcoming, educational, and professional cannabis experience without pressure, hype, or judgment. We want customers ranging from experienced consumers to people entering a dispensary for the first time to feel comfortable asking questions and confident in what they purchase.
About the Role
This is a hands-on hospitality and retail position, not simply a cashier job.
Budtenders will help customers understand products, complete accurate and compliant transactions, maintain the store, and notice what needs attention without always waiting to be asked. When customer traffic is light, team members may be restocking, cleaning, learning products, checking the parking lot or bathroom, improving displays, preparing online menu information, or helping with other store projects.
We are especially interested in candidates with bartending, serving, barista, liquor-store, specialty-retail, pharmacy, or other fast-paced customer-service experience. Previous cannabis employment is helpful but not required. Genuine curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn matter more than existing knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and create a friendly, comfortable, judgment-free experience.
- Ask thoughtful questions and help customers navigate available product categories.
- Explain product formats, labels, cannabinoids, potency, onset, duration, and responsible-use considerations within the limits of your training.
- Avoid medical claims and refer customers to an appropriate healthcare professional when necessary.
- Verify identification and follow all Minnesota cannabis regulations and company procedures.
- Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately handle cash, debit transactions, discounts, and order fulfillment.
- Maintain accurate inventory by receiving, stocking, organizing, counting, and monitoring products.
- Follow all security, restricted-access, incident-reporting, and cash-control procedures.
- Keep the sales floor, displays, counters, restroom, employee areas, entrances, and surrounding property clean and presentable.
- Learn new products and participate in required initial and ongoing training.
- Help resolve customer concerns calmly and professionally.
- Support opening, closing, and other daily store routines.
- Contribute ideas and help improve the store as we learn during launch.
What We’re Looking For
The strongest candidates will:
- Enjoy meeting people and build rapport naturally with different types of customers.
- Take ownership and notice what needs to be done.
- Stay productive during both slow periods and busy rushes.
- Assume positive intent and address mistakes without unnecessary blame or drama.
- Remain accurate while multitasking and being interrupted.
- Be humble, curious, coachable, and willing to change their mind when they learn something new.
- Have a genuine interest in cannabis and responsible consumer education.
- Treat compliance as part of good customer service—not an inconvenience.
- Care about team performance and understand that advancement is based on contribution, judgment, and reliability rather than tenure alone.
