Controller / Director of FinanceExecutive Leadership OpportunityHelp Build What's Next
Child Logistics and Child Truck Line are looking for a Controller who wants more than a traditional accounting role. This is an opportunity to join our leadership team, work directly with ownership, and help shape the future of a growing transportation and logistics company.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving businesses, and helping drive strategic decisions—not someone who's only interested in closing the books each month.
This position begins with leading our accounting and financial operations, but we expect the role to grow alongside the company. The right person will become a trusted advisor to ownership and have the opportunity to influence operational improvements, technology, acquisitions, long-term planning, and future growth.
If you're looking for a role where your ideas matter, where you'll have a seat at the table, and where your responsibilities can continue to expand, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Lead all accounting and financial operations
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning
- Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting that support better business decisions
- Strengthen internal controls and improve financial processes
- Partner with ownership on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and potential acquisitions
- Build, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
- Work alongside operations to improve efficiency, profitability, and decision-making
- Help evaluate new opportunities and identify ways to improve the business as we continue to grow
What We're Looking for- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Leadership experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Experience leading accounting teams and improving financial processes
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and ERP software
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, construction, or another operationally focused business
- Experience with acquisitions, business integration, or rapid company growth
- Strong banking, lending, and financial relationship management experience
- Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and technology
The Person We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who thinks like a business leader—not just an accountant.
Someone who:
- Thinks like an owner and takes pride in helping the business succeed
- Enjoys solving problems and improving how things are done
- Can communicate effectively with everyone from drivers and warehouse employees to managers and ownership
- Is comfortable making recommendations and challenging ideas when the numbers support it
- Builds systems instead of working around broken processes
- Thrives in a fast-paced, growing company where no two days are the same
- Wants to continue learning, growing, and taking on new responsibilities
Why This Role Is Different
This isn't a company where the Controller sits in an office and simply produces financial statements.
You'll work directly with ownership, have a voice in major business decisions, and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of the company. As we continue to grow, we expect this position to evolve well beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the leadership team and help build something for the long term. If you're motivated by ownership, continuous improvement, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact, we'd love to talk.
