Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description Summary
We are looking to add a Manufacturing Engineer to our team in Sanford Forging Facility, NC.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, equipment reliability, and process performance. This role focuses on continuous improvement initiatives, capital project management, equipment optimization, and ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality production processes.
Job Description:

Lead initiatives to reduce setup and changeover time by developing improved methods, tooling, and operational techniques to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Drive continuous improvement by modifying manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and design effectiveness.

Support achievement of financial targets through budget preparation, expenditure planning, and project cost control, including implementation of corrective actions as needed.

Manage capital projects end-to-end, including:
-
Equipment specification development
-
Vendor coordination and equipment runoffs
-
Installation and commissioning
-
Oversight of external contractors
-
Develop and maintain accurate equipment layouts, drawings, and documentation to support production and engineering activities.

Provide root cause analysis and engineering solutions for recurring process or equipment failures.

Identify training needs and support workforce development through technical training and skill enhancement initiatives.

Lead and coordinate maintenance strategies, including:

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
-
Preventive Maintenance (PM)
-
Predictive and Proactive Maintenance programs
- to improve equipment reliability and maximize uptime
-
Manage and coordinate external contractors for equipment and process improvements.

Collaborate cross-functionally across all organizational levels to drive manufacturing and process improvements.

Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement events, ensuring proper documentation and measurable results.

Ensure compliance with environmental standards by understanding key job-related aspects and implementing required operational controls.

Maintain process integrity through development and updates of procedures, standards, and operational guidelines.

Maintain accurate equipment records and databases, ensuring proper documentation and traceability.

Safeguard organizational information by maintaining strict confidentiality standards.

Perform additional duties assigned to support business objectives.
Required Skills and Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or related Engineering field.

Experience in forging, metals processing, or heavy manufacturing.

Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
-
Minimum 3 to 5 years of work experience in manufacturing environment.
