Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Carrier Sales Manager to lead our carrier sales operations and expand our network of transportation partners. In this role, you will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with carriers, managing key accounts, and driving revenue growth through effective sales strategies. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to acquire new carrier partners and expand existing relationships within the transportation industry.
- Manage end-to-end account management processes, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements with carriers to optimize profitability while meeting client needs.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), CRM software, and EDI platforms to streamline operations, track shipments, and maintain accurate data entry.
- Coordinate with internal teams on logistics planning, freight brokerage, shipping logistics, and trade compliance to ensure seamless freight forwarding logistics solutions.
- Lead lead generation efforts through inside sales activities, cold calling, and industry networking to identify new business opportunities.
- Monitor market trends in air freight, international trade regulations, FDA regulations (if applicable), and other compliance standards to stay ahead of industry developments.
- Oversee dispatching activities and ensure adherence to transportation planning schedules while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales management within the logistics or transportation industry, including carrier sales or freight brokerage roles.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management, transportation management systems (TMS), and logistics company operations.
- Demonstrated ability in B2B sales, contract negotiation, and client relationship management.
- Familiarity with NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), 3PL (Third-Party Logistics), freight forwarding logistics, air freight, and shipping logistics.
- Proficiency in CRM software (such as Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite, EDI systems, AS400 platforms, and data entry/dispatching tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with customer service expertise to foster long-term partnerships.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and trade compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively manage client relationships through client communication strategies.
