Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Regional Detox Specialist (RDS) to lead and coordinate detoxification services within our network at Addiction Resources. This vital role involves providing expert clinical assessments, managing detox protocols, and ensuring seamless patient care transitions. The RDS will serve as a key resource for hospital teams, supporting individuals with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and complex medical needs. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments for patients entering detox programs, including evaluating medical history, substance use patterns, and mental health status.
- Develop individualized detox plans aligned with best practices and hospital protocols, ensuring safety and efficacy throughout the detox process.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, social workers, and addiction counselors—to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Monitor patient progress closely during detoxification, utilizing physiological knowledge and clinical judgment to identify complications or adverse reactions promptly.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding substance use disorders, treatment options, and community resources.
- Facilitate community resource coordination in health services social work to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
Requirements
- Preferably have your RDS/RADD certifications
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Familiarity with medical terminology, the physiological effects of addiction and mental health, and evaluation procedures is preferred. Candidates with a willingness to learn and grow in these areas are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in fast-paced settings while maintaining high-quality patient service and care standards.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems management along with understanding of HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills working with diverse populations
- Case management, discharge planning, community resource coordination, and social work principles is highly desirable.
Experience in substance use disorder treatment is preferred but not required.
Training will be provided for the right candidate.
