About We Excel Cincinnati (WEC) We Excel Cincinnati is a movement led by parents and community advocates, specifically those in neighborhoods where schools have historically been under-resourced. We organize and develop powerful parent leaders to demand and support a high-quality education for every child in Cincinnati. Our work is rooted in the belief that when parents are equipped with technical knowledge and advocacy tools, they become the most effective catalyst for student achievement.
Position Summary WEC is seeking a high-level, data-driven Program Leader with extensive instructional experience to spearhead our Read to Rise High-Dosage Literacy Intervention Program this summer. Serving 20 enrolled students at the host facility, this role is designed for an expert educator to validate our core working theory: that targeted, evidence-based intervention, championed by an empowered family ecosystem, is the essential bridge for children to master standards and overcome summer learning loss.
You will oversee a small team of interventionists (maintaining a small student ratio), manage sophisticated assessment tracking, and administer a robust wrap-around family resource fund to ensure equitable student success.
Key Responsibilities * Instructional Oversight & Coaching: Provide clinical, expert coaching to a team of three Literacy Interventionists. Ensure strict instructional alignment with the Science of Reading (SoR) framework, UFLI Foundations (phonics/decoding), and Wit & Wisdom (knowledge-building ELA).
- Data Architecture & Growth Analytics: Manage and analyze real-time mCLASS and DIBELS 8th Editionassessment data (Pre, Mid, and Post) to drive weekly instructional pivots. Disaggregate growth data by students' home schools specifically tracking outcomes for our Lockland majority cohort (11 of 20 students) and contrast results against school-year i-Ready test scores to measure catch-up growth and state exam readiness.
- Team & Resource Management: Supervise interventionists and a dedicated Data Tracker. Administer incentives to sustain exceptional program attendance.
- Parent Technical Facilitation & Community Building: Orchestrate community milestones, including two interactive Family Nights, five bi-weekly student newsletters, and a culminating Graduation & Community Day. Equip parents with the data and technical literacy tools needed to advocate for their child's academic achievement.
- Synthesis & Reporting: Aggregate all academic metrics, comparative i-Ready data, and parent feedback into a final, formal findings report for stakeholders.
Qualifications Deep, unyielding commitment to the mission and vision of We Excel Cincinnati.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and supervising successful K-6 reading interventions.
- Deep familiarity with core instructional and diagnostic tools (Wit & Wisdom, mCLASS, DIBELS 8th Edition, UFLI Foundations, and Teaching Strategies GOLD).
- Strong proficiency in analyzing, disaggregating, and reporting student assessment data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with WEC leadership, interventionists, host site staff, and diverse families.
- Ability to commit to the full 10-week duration and work up to 10 hours per week.
- A valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
