The Senior Director of Corporate Philanthropy ("Director") is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporations, corporate foundations, and high net-worth individuals that currently support or are capable of supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. The Director is also responsible for the successful planning and execution of all BGCMD special events.
This position is currently responsible for managing all aspects of a $2.5+ million revenue portfolio, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and compliance with funder guidelines, including required reporting procedures and financial monitoring. This position is also responsible for the overall fundraising efforts of BGCMD special events.
The Senior Director of Corporate Philanthropy reports to the Vice President of Resource Development and manages the Director of Corporate Philanthropy, the Corporate Philanthropy Manager, and the Events Manager. Additionally, the Director is an integral part of a team-oriented Resource Development Department. The Director must be able to balance supervising partner relationships while also working collaboratively on a team of Development professionals. Specifically, this position will collaborate with the marketing & communications team, the grants & contracts team, and all other portfolio managers. This position is relationship focused and also works within established fundraising benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs) for both individual and team performance.
Manage all aspects of a revenue portfolio that generates at least $2.5 million in operating revenue, including moves management (identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship).
Oversee all special event management from planning to execution.
Co-facilitate efforts to secure sponsorships and execute benefit fulfillment for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s signature fundraising events.
Accountable for annual benchmarks, goals, strategies through monthly and quarterly progress reports on portfolio activity (activities, proposals, revenue, engagement, etc).
Cultivate strong relationships with key portfolio contacts through personal visits and other appropriate communications.
Develop and implement strategies to retain, renew, and increase sponsorships and multi-year financial commitments.
Cultivate and sustain a holistic stewardship approach by investing, engaging, and celebrating Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s sponsors, board members and donors.
Research sponsorship and donor prospects for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver operations, programs and special projects.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s funding priorities and needs.
Provide project leadership and support for approved volunteer engagement and stewardship events and activities.
Assist members of the Resource Development team with the engagement of the Board and Associate Board members to develop and sustain key funding partnerships, sponsorships and volunteer activities.
Collaborate with the Foundation portfolio manager and Chief Impact Officer as needed to research and write proposals for existing and new funding opportunities.
Maintain analytical knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s constituent relationship management database (CRM), including timely data entry, data requests and data analysis segmentation.
Oversee management of the Associate Board of Directors.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of business, communications, nonprofit management, and/or a related subject.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively increased responsibility working with corporate relations & event management.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver; the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations; and Resource Development activities and sources of funding.
Proven success creating partnerships with corporations at a nonprofit organization.
Exemplary writing, editing, and verbal communications skills. Proposal writing and presentation experience is essential.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience interacting with volunteers and senior leadership.
Excellent interpersonal relationships.
Proficiency in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Project and Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database.
Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation.
Conditions of Employment
The position requires passing criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
The position must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy.
The position will primarily work indoors. Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required.
Some job duties require the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25 lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
Strong English proficiency is required for this position to ensure effective communication with staff, club members, and families, as well as to follow safety and procedural guidelines accurately.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises 3 employees.
Assisting in recruitment, hiring, training, and managing staff and volunteers.
Provide ongoing professional development and performance evaluations.
Foster teamwork and collaboration among staff members.
Ensure staff adhere to organizational policies and child safety standards.
In-Office and Remote Work
This position works primarily at the Program Support Center but may occasionally work from other BGCMD facilities as necessary. All remote work and other flexible work arrangements must be approved prior to implementation.
