Job Overview
The Electronic Security Technician I is an entry-level field technician responsible for assisting in the installation and basic maintenance of electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems. The Technician I works under the close supervision of senior technicians and foremen to learn the trade, develop technical skills, and gain experience in security system installation and service.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of electronic security systems including cable pulls,
- device mounting, and basic wiring.
- Terminate, label, and test low-voltage cables under supervision.
- Install hardware such as door contacts, readers, cameras, and keypads.
- Maintain tools, materials, and job site cleanliness.
- Follow directions from senior technicians and foremen to ensure work is performed safely and correctly.
- Help with equipment staging, loading/unloading, and job site preparation.
- Learn to read basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Participate in on-the-job training and manufacturer courses as directed.
- Adhere to all safety and company policies.

- Able to take directions and ask questions when unsure.
- Pulling cable efficiently and understanding purpose of each cable
- Be able to plan out and complete wire pulls
- Properly label cables and devices
- Ability to read and understand drawings and port charts
- Cleanup / take direction
- Know the next steps in assisting senior technicians
- Wire devices and know the difference between NO / NC
- Cat 5 & 6 connectors and punch downs
- Understand the purpose of each wire and color
- Wire proper resistance in a variety of devices and gain an understanding of the
- Functional security theory of the EOL Resistance
- Understand/know how to meter resistance and voltage
- Be proficient in mounting power supplies, panels and enclosures
- Understand Fail Safe and Fail Secure and how it should be implemented
- Fish walls and drill out for devices while keeping aesthetics in mind
- Properly code time and submit daily
- Maintain good criminal record
- Come to work on-time and be reliable
- Accomplish tasks error free
- Be able to identify the correct material and hardware for the job
- Have the proper tools
Requirements
- Must be a D.C. resident.
- RS2 Certification
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
