We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate veterinary assistant to join our anesthesia team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety and comfort during the post-anesthesia period. The ideal candidate will work closely with veterinary technicians, and doctors to monitor, support, and care for patients as they recover from sedation and general anesthesia.
Key Responsibilities
-Monitor patients during recovery from anesthesia, including vital signs, airway status, and pain control
-Communicate patient status clearly to technicians and doctors
-Maintain clean, organized, and safe recovery area
-Recognize signs of anesthetic complications and respond appropriately, notifying the appropriate team members
-Assist with restraint and patient handling during transport to and from recovery
-Must be able to lift 40+ lbs and stand for long periods of time
-Caring for ICU and Critical Care patients
The Center of Veterinary Expertise (COVE) is a state of the art Emergency + Critical Care + Specialty veterinary hospital in Suffolk, VA (Harbour View area), with board certified specialists in cardiology, critical care & surgery. We are presently accepting applications from Veterinary Assistants with a min. of 18 months experience in the veterinary practice setting to add to our team. At least 1 year of veterinary experience preferred, especially in anesthesia/surgery/emergency. Available shift is 7AM-5PM Monday -Thursday.
