Come Join Our Team as the Dining Services Director. This role is responsible for all aspects of managing the food service department to include, but not be limited to: developing the menu; ordering, preparing, and serving of meals; staffing; complying with budgetary guidelines; complying with local and state regulatory guidelines; assisting new residents with the transition to communal dining atmosphere. This position includes both production and administrative duties.
Position Specifics:
Education: Culinary Certifications.
Experience: Three years’ managerial experience providing food services in a retirement or hospitality environment; effective staff management skills; proficient at creating and working within a food service budget; must be able to use sanitizers, cleaners and chemicals strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively motivate team members.
Licensing/*_Certification_*: Serv-Safe Certification within 6 months of hire; Basic First Aid and CPR training within 60 days from date of hire.
The Dining Services Director’s immediate supervisor is the Executive Director. This position will supervise the Lead Cook(s), Prep Cook(s), and Dining Associates if those positions are in effect.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create cycled menus and solicit review and approval when applicable by the contracted Registered Dietician.
- Implement and monitor the ordering, delivery, storage, inventory and security of all food and supplies.
- Develop and implement a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule for all equipment, appliances & surfaces in the food service dept.
- Manage the Dining Services and Wellness associates to include the following: training on the process of setting & waiting on tables, scheduling & assigning tables to ensure proper service, compliance to dress code.
- Consult with new residents to integrate them into the community’s dining environment, e.g. seating preferences, menu choices, special diets, food/drink preferences.
- Coordinate and conduct regular Food Service Committee meetings to solicit residents’ feedback and suggestions; communicate any significant issues with the Executive Director.
- Hire and schedule the Dining Services associates within budgetary guidelines; provide supervision, training, performance review, and counseling as needed for these associates.
