Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Sandblast Media Blaster to operate sandblasting equipment using diamond sand and other approved media. This role removes excess material, burrs, scale, coatings, and imperfections from machinery parts while ensuring parts meet quality and production specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a variety of manufacturing environments.
Summary of Functions:
Sandblast parts according to required specifications. Assures proper media is used on corresponding parts and they are sandblasted properly.
Duties:
- Maintain constant flow of cleaned and sandblasted parts as required by paint shop and area around sandblaster.
- Maintain adequate levels of supplies necessary to maintain constant sandblasting as required and notify Plant Manager when stock is needed.
- Use required safety equipment and report equipment issues.
- Use ladder safety protocols effectively while working at heights; ensure all equipment is secure and compliant with safety regulations.
- Maintain safety and other training requirements appropriate to the job.
- Perform surface preparation for media spray painting and coating applications to guarantee smooth finishes and long-lasting results.
- Maintain high standard quality sandblasting and properly sandblasted parts.
- Perform other assignments or duties as needed or requested and work as a team member.
- Ensure traceability of parts throughout the sandblast process.
- Comply with company attendance rules and provide excellent customer service.
- Have hand eye dexterity and ability to do repetitive hand movements.
- Be able to fit and wear a vent hood.
Skills
- Extensive experience with construction estimating to accurately gauge project scope and materials needed.
- Strong knowledge of color theory to achieve desired aesthetic effects and visual harmony.
- Experience with blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding schedules.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and blasting equipment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations including respiratory protection measures; adherence to safety protocol standards always.
- Basic math skills for measuring surfaces accurately.
