Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mobile Mammography Technologist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role involves operating mobile mammography units to provide essential breast imaging services in various community settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in medical imaging, including mammography and other diagnostic modalities, while demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care and radiation safety protocols.
Duties
- Operate mobile mammography units to perform high-quality breast imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and addressing concerns with professionalism.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques such as ultrasound (sonography), DEXA scans, and fluoroscopy when applicable, to support diagnostic evaluations.
- Implement radiation safety protocols rigorously to protect patients, staff, and self during all procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of imaging procedures, patient information, and equipment logs in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal diagnostic outcomes.
- Conduct routine maintenance and quality assurance checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control standards during all patient interactions and procedures.
Qualifications
- Certification in radiologic technology with specialized training in mammography; additional certifications in sonography or nuclear medicine are advantageous.
- Proven experience operating medical imaging equipment such as X-ray, PET scan, CT, DEXA scan, fluoroscopy, or nuclear medicine systems.
- Prior experience working in urgent care settings, emergency rooms, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and diagnostic radiology principles.
- Demonstrated ability to implement radiation safety protocols effectively during all procedures.
- Familiarity with interventional radiology techniques and emergency medicine practices enhances patient care delivery.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently in mobile environments while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
