Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in food preparation, including slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, fryers, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen surfaces in compliance with food safety standards
- Support meal preparation for service periods, ensuring timely delivery of quality dishes
- Follow food handling procedures meticulously to uphold safety standards in production and prevent cross-contamination
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy service times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Familiarity with menu planning and recipe adherence to maintain consistency in food quality
- Strong food safety management skills and understanding of safety standards in production environments
- Proven ability to handle food safely, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for efficient ingredient prep
- Ability to work collaboratively within a kitchen team while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Catering experience or background in the food industry is advantageous
