Responsibilities
- Perform thorough surface preparation including sanding, grinding, and masking to create a smooth, clean base for painting.
- Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and airless paint spraying equipment to apply primer and paint coatings accurately.
- Mask off areas of vehicles to protect surfaces during painting and coating processes, ensuring crisp lines and professional finishes.
- Conduct auto body repair tasks such as dent removal, filling, and surface smoothing to prepare vehicles for painting.
- Operate automotive buffing machines and detailing tools to enhance vehicle appearance after painting is completed.
- Follow safety protocols by utilizing respiratory protection and other PPE (personal protective equipment) during all phases of surface preparation and painting.
- Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks as needed, including minor mechanical repairs or adjustments to ensure optimal vehicle condition prior to painting.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership or auto body shop experience with a strong understanding of automotive surface preparation techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and spray guns.
- Familiarity with automotive buffing, auto restoration, auto glass replacement, and detailing processes.
- Knowledge of conventional spraying methods and airless paint spraying equipment for applying paints and coatings.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for sanding, grinding, masking, and buffing.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Certifications or experience in welding, auto estimating, or heavy lifting are considered advantageous but not mandatory.
