Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our construction operations team in Connecticut. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in structural welding, metal fabrication, and the repair of construction equipment and components. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding steel materials in accordance with project specifications, blueprints, and work orders while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Under general supervision, the Welder/Fabricator will support both shop and field operations by performing welding, fabrication, and repair work as needed. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, dependable, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively with project teams to ensure the timely completion of projects. Experience in construction environments, proficiency with welding and cutting equipment, and a commitment to quality workmanship are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Weld structural steel members with consistent quality while following safe work practices, utilizing layouts, blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair steel construction equipment and related components used in the field.
- Identify various types of materials used in structural welding and ensure proper material preparation prior to fabrication and welding.
- Operate and maintain a variety of welding equipment, tools, wire, and machinery, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes as required.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings to troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues and implement corrective actions.
- Perform initial quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) inspections on completed work to verify compliance with project specifications and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and handling materials as needed to support fabrication and construction operations.
- Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of structural welding experience, preferably in a construction, fabrication, or industrial environment.
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred for operation of mobile welding vehicles and other Class A or Class B company vehicles.
- Proficient in the use of cutting torches, plasma arc cutting systems, and other metal cutting equipment.
- Experience working from aerial lifts, scissor lifts, man lifts, and elevated staging platforms.
- Working knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding techniques, and safe material handling practices.
- Previous exposure to and familiarity with construction work environments and job site safety requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment and work in varying outdoor weather conditions as needed.

Pay: $35.00 - $44.98 per hour
