Position Summary
Millville Area School District is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and student-centered educator to serve as an Engineering Teacher and Cooperative Education Coordinator. This unique position combines classroom instruction in engineering and technology with the coordination of a Cooperative Education (Diversified Occupations) program that provides students with meaningful work-based learning experiences aligned with their career goals.
The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging engineering instruction while developing partnerships with local businesses and industries to prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success.
Essential ResponsibilitiesEngineering Instruction
- Develop and deliver engaging engineering curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and Career and Technical Education competencies.
- Utilize project-based learning to teach engineering concepts, design processes, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom and laboratory environment.
- Incorporate emerging technologies, engineering software, and industry practices into instruction.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
- Collaborate with faculty to promote STEM education and interdisciplinary learning.
Cooperative Education Coordination
- Develop, coordinate, and supervise the district's Cooperative Education (Diversified Occupations) program.
- Recruit, establish, and maintain partnerships with local employers.
- Conduct employer site visits and monitor student workplace performance.
- Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education Cooperative Education requirements.
- Assist students in obtaining employment opportunities related to their career interests.
- Coordinate student training agreements, employer evaluations, and required documentation.
- Teach employability skills, workplace professionalism, financial literacy, communication, and career readiness.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required state reporting.
- Coordinate with guidance counselors, administrators, parents, and employers regarding student progress.
- Promote business and community partnerships that enhance student learning opportunities.
Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Technology Education, Engineering Education, Career and Technical Education, or related certification (or ability to obtain appropriate certification).
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and project-based instruction.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employers, students, parents, and community partners.
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, technology, business, or industry is preferred.
- Experience with Cooperative Education or work-based learning programs is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating internships, apprenticeships, or work-based learning.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and workplace compliance.
- Experience utilizing industry-recognized credentials and career readiness initiatives.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely supervise students in classroom, laboratory, and workplace settings.
- Ability to lift instructional materials and equipment as necessary.
- Ability to travel locally for employer visits and student supervision.
