Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children across early childhood and preschool ages. Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and executing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional development
- Support children’s learning by engaging them in age-appropriate activities that promote curiosity, creativity, and independence
- Help manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies
- Provide hands-on care for children, including toddler care, early childhood education activities, and Montessori or preschool-based methods
- Collaborate with the team to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities or special needs, including those with autism or developmental disabilities
- Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate understanding and interaction with children who have communication challenges
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in classroom settings, including preschool or childcare environments
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and curriculum development
- Familiarity with special education strategies, behavior management techniques, and classroom management skills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; familiarity with IEP processes is preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Certification or training in Deaf education or working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team dedicated to inclusive education practices
- Passion for teaching and supporting the growth of young learners in diverse settings
