fyberLogic LLC is hiring a local QA/QC Fiber Inspector to support inspection, documentation, and quality assurance of high-density fiber optic infrastructure in the Northern Virginia data center corridor.
This role supports OSP construction, ISP structured cabling, fiber pathway inspection, terminations, splice review, testing documentation, and closeout quality control. The work will focus on inspecting fiber cable runs, pathways, labeling, cable management, terminations, splice points, and test results to help ensure work is completed correctly before it becomes a closeout problem.
This is not a production installer role, although hands-on field experience is required. We are looking for someone who has been around fiber construction long enough to know what bad workmanship looks like before it turns into a failure, delay, or expensive rework.
The ideal candidate is local to the Ashburn/Loudoun County area, understands both field conditions and documentation requirements, and can communicate clearly with crews, project managers, and client representatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual and physical inspection of OSP and ISP fiber optic cable installations.
- Inspect fiber cable routing, cable management, bend radius, slack storage, pathway usage, labeling, and general workmanship.
- Verify conduit, innerduct, handholes, pull boxes, vaults, manholes, cable trays, and pathway installations against drawings and project specifications.
- Inspect terminations, patch panels, fiber distribution units, splice trays, enclosures, and connector cleanliness.
- Review fiber storage, tray organization, splice protection, and routing for compliance with client standards.
- Witness and document fiber acceptance testing performed by contractors.
- Review OTDR traces, insertion loss results, polarity verification, continuity checks, and other fiber test documentation.
- Compare test results against project acceptance criteria and flag failed, incomplete, questionable, or missing results.
- Support verification of end-to-end fiber paths, strand counts, port assignments, and labeling accuracy.
- Create photo documentation of compliant work, deficiencies, and corrected work.
- Prepare punch list items, non-conformance reports, and corrective action notes.
- Track deficiencies from identification through correction and final acceptance.
- Compare field installations against engineering drawings, redlines, as-builts, specifications, and client standards.
- Review contractor-submitted test reports, closeout documents, as-builts, and quality packages for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate inspection findings clearly with field crews, subcontractors, project managers, and client representatives.
- Escalate recurring quality issues, safety concerns, design conflicts, or documentation gaps through the proper channels.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in fiber optic construction, structured cabling, OSP/ISP installation, splicing, testing, engineering support, or QA/QC inspection.
- Working knowledge of fiber optic cable installation practices, cable handling, bend radius, labeling, connector care, and pathway routing.
- Ability to read and interpret OSP/ISP drawings, fiber routing diagrams, conduit plans, rack elevations, cable schedules, or structured cabling documentation.
- Basic understanding of OTDR testing, insertion loss testing, polarity verification, and fiber acceptance documentation.
- Strong documentation skills, including written notes, photo records, punch lists, and deficiency tracking.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with field crews, project managers, and client representatives.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in the Ashburn/Loudoun County area.
- Ability to work as a local employee without company-provided lodging or per diem.
- Ability to pass client or site access requirements, which may include background screening, drug screening, safety orientation, and data center security badging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior data center, hyperscale, colocation, or high-density fiber infrastructure experience.
- Experience inspecting or installing both OSP and ISP fiber infrastructure.
- Fusion splicing experience or direct exposure to splice tray inspection and splice record review.
- Ability to review OTDR traces and identify common issues such as excessive loss, reflection, macro-bends, poor connectors, bad splices, or questionable events.
- Experience using or reviewing results from OTDRs, OLTS/light source and power meter sets, VFLs, fiber inspection scopes, and connector cleaning tools.
- Familiarity with TIA-568, TIA-569, TIA-606, TIA-758, BICSI guidance, and client-specific data center cabling standards.
- Experience with Procore, Fieldwire, SiteDocs, Bluebeam, GIS/KMZ files, electronic QA reporting platforms, or similar tools.
- FOA CFOT, BICSI, OSHA 10, first aid/CPR, or similar industry certifications.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime may be available
- Weekend work may be required based on project needs
- Schedule may vary based on construction access windows, testing milestones, and project deadlines
This role is intended for local personnel within commuting distance of Ashburn/Loudoun County. Company-paid lodging and travel per diem are not included for this local position. Approved job-related mileage, parking, tolls, PPE, or project-specific expenses may be reimbursed according to company policy.

This is a field-based role supporting active construction and data center infrastructure projects in Northern Virginia.
Work may occur in outdoor OSP environments, indoor construction areas, cable vaults, handholes, manholes, equipment rooms, meet-me rooms, overhead cable tray areas, and controlled-access data center spaces.
