Overview
Frontier Payment Solutions is seeking an experienced Producing Merchant Services Sales Leader to help build, train, and manage a growing sales team while continuing to personally sell merchant-processing accounts.
This is a hands-on, performance-based contract position for someone with direct payment-processing sales experience. The right candidate must be able to develop new salespeople, review merchant statements and pricing, assist with complex opportunities, and personally board at least three merchant accounts per month.
This is not a salaried corporate management position. Compensation is based on personal residuals, team overrides, production milestones, and an introductory training stipend. The position offers flexible scheduling, uncapped earning potential, and an opportunity to help develop a growing independent merchant-services company.
Responsibilities
- Personally prospect, present, close, and board a minimum of three qualified merchant accounts per month.
- Conduct structured weekly sales training for assigned salespeople.
- Hold weekly pipeline reviews and establish clear follow-up expectations.
- Train new salespeople on prospecting, discovery, merchant-statement analysis, pricing, processing equipment, POS systems, gateways, underwriting requirements, and account onboarding.
- Review merchant statements, pricing proposals, equipment recommendations, and applications before submission when needed.
- Help salespeople prepare for and close larger or more complicated merchant opportunities.
- Participate in qualified merchant meetings remotely or in person when appropriate.
- Monitor submitted applications, approvals, activations, processing status, and merchant retention.
- Maintain accurate records of prospects, opportunities, applications, and completed sales.
- Identify and escalate potential fraud, excessive chargeback exposure, prohibited business activity, or incomplete underwriting documentation.
- Help Frontier develop sales scripts, discovery forms, proposal standards, onboarding checklists, and industry-specific sales materials.
- Support the recruiting and onboarding of additional salespeople as the team grows.
- Promote accurate, transparent, and compliant sales practices.
Required Experience
- Direct experience selling merchant-processing services, payment solutions, POS systems, or related financial technology.
- Demonstrated ability to personally prospect and close merchant accounts.
- Experience reading merchant statements and explaining processing rates, fees, equipment, and pricing options.
- Working knowledge of merchant underwriting, application documentation, chargeback risk, and account activation.
- Experience training, mentoring, or managing salespeople.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and closing skills.
- Ability to work independently and hold a developing sales team accountable.
- Comfortable working in a growing company where sales processes and training systems are still being developed.
Preferred Experience
- Existing relationships with business owners, referral partners, or independent sales agents.
- Experience selling solutions for retail, restaurants, service businesses, e-commerce, or other specialized industries.
- Familiarity with Elavon, Converge, Authorize.net, NMI, Valor PayTech, or comparable processing platforms.
- Previous experience working with an independent sales organization or merchant-services provider.
- Experience recruiting and developing commission-based sales representatives.
Compensation
- 60% of net residual revenue from qualified accounts personally sourced and closed by the Sales Leader.
- 50% of net residual revenue from company-provided leads unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- 10% override on net residual revenue generated by assigned salespeople who are actively trained and managed by the Sales Leader.
- One-time team growth bonuses when established residual and active-merchant milestones are maintained.
- Estimated annual compensation of $50,000 to $350,000 based on personal production, team performance, merchant retention, residual revenue, and milestone bonuses.
- Compensation is uncapped, performance-based, and not guaranteed.
