Mac Hydraulics is looking for a Manual Lathe Machinist who knows their way around heavy parts, tight tolerances, and hydraulic components. You’ll work primarily on a Lion lathe (18" swing) and handle everything from large cylinder rods to smaller custom fittings.
If you can only thread with a tap and die, this isn’t the right fit. We need someone who can cut threads manually on the lathe and reverse-engineer from samples when prints aren’t available.
What You’ll Do
- Run manual lathes and mills to machine hydraulic parts to spec
- Cut imperial and metric threads and hold tight tolerances
- Reverse-engineer components from samples (no drawings)
- Weld and clean up minor repairs (basic welding skills a plus)
- Handle a mix of one-off jobs and short runs
- Work with the team to improve quality and turnaround speed
What You Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with manual lathes (no CNC programming needed)
- Ability to cut internal and external threads manually
- Understand fits, tolerances, and measurement tools
- Experience machining rods, glands, pistons, or similar hydraulic components
- Mechanically minded, dependable, and team-oriented
