Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, tankers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles to deliver propane and hazardous materials
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes using GPS navigation systems while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations
- Load and unload cargo with manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts, ensuring proper securing of freight to prevent damage or accidents
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and vehicle readiness
- Handle hazardous materials according to hazardous materials regulations, including proper documentation, labeling, and safety procedures
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and incident reports in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during deliveries
Qualifications
- Proven experience in truck driving or commercial driving roles involving tractor-trailers or similar large vehicles
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tanker and hazardous materials transport
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles and experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and hazardous materials regulations is essential
- Ability to handle freight safely using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Strong route planning skills utilizing GPS navigation systems for efficient deliveries
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with all traffic laws and safety standards
