Position Summary
Brighten Your Horizons, LLC is seeking compassionate, dependable, and responsible Host Respite Providers to provide short-term respite care for children in a safe, nurturing home environment. This position allows children to stay in the provider’s home while their caregivers receive temporary relief. Providers play an important role in supporting children’s emotional, behavioral, and daily living needs while maintaining a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.
Essential Requirement
Applicants must have an extra, private bedroom in their home that is dedicated to accommodating a child receiving respite services.
The room must:
- Be clean, safe, and fully furnished with appropriate sleeping accommodations.
- Provide adequate privacy, comfort, and storage for the child’s belongings.
- Meet all applicable safety requirements and be available whenever respite services are scheduled.
- Be maintained in a condition that is suitable for overnight or extended respite stays.
Applicants without an available bedroom for the child are not eligible for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, supportive, and caring home environment.
- Supervise children at all times while they are in your care.
- Assist with activities of daily living as needed, including meals, hygiene, medication reminders (if authorized), and bedtime routines.
- Encourage positive behaviors and age-appropriate activities.
- Transport children to approved appointments or community activities when authorized.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
- Communicate promptly with agency staff regarding concerns, incidents, or emergencies.
- Follow all agency policies, Medicaid requirements, and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly home environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to successfully complete criminal background checks and other required screenings.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to complete all required agency and Medicaid training.
Home Requirements
To be considered, applicants must have:
- A vacant bedroom exclusively available for children receiving respite services.
- A clean, smoke-free, safe, and well-maintained home.
- Functioning smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors (where required).
- Safe storage for medications, cleaning supplies, firearms (if applicable), and hazardous materials.
- Adequate utilities, heating, air conditioning, and running water.
- A home that is free from health and safety hazards.
- Willingness to participate in a home inspection conducted by Brighten Your Horizons, LLC before approval and periodically thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience caring for children with intellectual/developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, autism spectrum disorder, or mental health diagnoses.
- Experience as a foster parent, caregiver, childcare provider, or direct support professional.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to supervise active children.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Pay: $3,000.00 - $3,500.00 per month
