Position Overview
Warner Christian Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and mission-driven educator to serve as a 6th Grade Math/Science Teacher. This position includes teaching 5 class periods daily, with 2 planning periods to support thoughtful preparation, collaboration, and student feedback.
Instruction will utilize BJU Press curriculum and emphasize both conceptual understanding in mathematics and inquiry-based learning in science, all within a Christ-centered framework.
This role may be structured in one of two ways based on candidate strengths and scheduling needs.
Teaching Assignment Options
Option 1:
- Teach 3 sections of 6th Grade Comprehensive Science
- Teach 2 sections of 6th Grade Accelerated Math
Option 2:
- Teach 2 sections of 6th Grade Accelerated Math
- Teach 1 section of Math 6
- Teach 2 sections of 6th Grade Comprehensive Science
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Duties:
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Math and Science
- Utilize BJU Press curriculum effectively, adapting as needed to meet student needs
- Foster deep understanding through problem-solving, critical thinking, and hands-on learning
- Differentiate instruction to support a range of learners, including advanced students
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback on student work
Student Development:
- Cultivate a classroom environment marked by attentiveness, curiosity, and perseverance
- Encourage the development of intellectual virtues such as carefulness and intellectual courage
- Support students’ academic growth alongside their spiritual formation
- Model Christ-like character and integrate biblical truth into instruction
Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum alignment and student support
- Use planning periods effectively for lesson design, grading, and reflection
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Uphold and advance the mission of Warner Christian Academy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or related field preferred
- Valid teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience teaching middle school Math and/or Science preferred
- Strong content knowledge and instructional skill in both subject areas
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to Christian education
