Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Plant Custodian / Housekeeping Associate and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our facility. This energetic position offers the opportunity to contribute to the overall cleanliness and sanitation of our plant, ensuring that all areas are kept in optimal condition for safety and efficiency. You will be responsible for performing a variety of custodial tasks, utilizing cleaning equipment, handling chemicals safely, and supporting facilities maintenance activities. Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment. Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with safety procedures, OSHA requirements and company guidelines.
- Perform routine janitorial cleaning of plant floors, offices, restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, hallways, entrances and other common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub and otherwise clean floors and work areas as needed.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, sinks, fixtures, breakroom surfaces and other high-touch areas; replenish paper products, soap and other supplies.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in designated areas in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain janitorial supplies and equipment; notify the Maintenance Manager when supplies need to be reordered or equipment requires repair.
- Clean spills and respond to housekeeping needs in a timely manner while following applicable safety and chemical-handling procedures.
- Assist with maintaining orderly production and warehouse areas without interfering with active manufacturing operations.
- Perform periodic cleaning assignments such as windows, doors, walls, fixtures and other plant areas as directed.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, leaks, damaged fixtures or other facility concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
- Perform assigned duties in a timely fashion or within the time allotted.
Skills
- Previous janitorial, custodial, housekeeping or industrial cleaning experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established cleaning schedules.
- Dependable, self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with employees throughout the plant.
- Adaptable to a changing manufacturing environment with competing demands and frequent changes.
- Ability to stand and walk for an 8-10 hour shift and regularly bend, reach, push, pull and perform repetitive cleaning activities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalency is preferred.
