Key Holders and Floor Managers provide knowledge, service and expertise on pet, horse, and livestock nutrition and care. In addition to cashiering, stocking and pricing, they open and close the store, create the staff to-do lists for the day, as well as train, motivate, and supervise the sales associates working with them. They have other specific managerial responsibilities in the course of a day, such as creating displays, handling customer service and returns.
Key Holders must have excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude. They initially start as Sales Associates to gain the necessary product and operating knowledge. Once they are confidently able to handle that position and show integrity, work ethic, and leadership by example, they are fast-tracked into this middle-management position, handling questions from customers and sales associates and becoming the "managers on duty" for opening and for evening and weekend shifts. A background in Vet Med, Vet Tech, Animal Science, Agri-business, or similar academic experience is desired to catch on quickly. Some retail, management, or farm experience is a plus. Must be computer proficient and demonstrate a track-record of outstanding performance and integrity in previous positions.
A passion for this industry and the right combination of experience in the animal field, positive customer service and communication skills, demonstratable management and leadership skills, and a strong work ethic are the attributes needed to be successful.
