Mechanical Maintenance Technician - corrugated industry
Location: South Milwaukee, WI
Pay: $28– $35 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly
Shift: 2nd or 3rd available.
A leading corrugated manufacturing operation is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support production equipment and facility operations. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined technician who enjoys solving problems, working hands-on with equipment, and keeping production running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on production equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on motors, conveyors, drives, gearboxes, and other machinery.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions using test equipment and hand tools.
- Install, repair, and adjust industrial machinery to maintain optimal production performance.
- Troubleshoot PLC systems, drives, and control systems where applicable.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using CMMS software.
- Follow all safety policies and safe work practices at all times.
- Assist with fabrication, machining, and welding repairs when needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Work with production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or manufacturing maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment.
- Ability to safely operate tools and maintenance equipment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in corrugated, packaging, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of:
- PLC troubleshooting
- AC/DC drives
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Steam and boiler systems
- Welding or machining
- Industrial automation
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery, noise, and humidity.
- Ability to work from ladders, platforms, and elevated surfaces when necessary.
