Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing basketball practices, drills, and game strategies that enhance player skills and team cohesion
- Support the head coach in supervising team activities, ensuring safety and adherence to school policies
- Provide mentorship and motivation to student-athletes, encouraging sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth
- Help monitor player behavior, enforce team rules, and manage conduct during practices and competitions
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, schedules, and performance feedback
- Contribute to scouting opponents and analyzing game footage to develop effective game plans
- Support the implementation of sports-specific training instruction including conditioning, skill development, and tactical understanding
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or youth in sports or educational settings is highly desirable
- Demonstrated sports coaching experience, particularly in basketball or related team sports such as soccer, cheerleading, climbing, or martial arts like karate or judo
- Knowledge of sports-specific training instruction methods and behavior management strategies
- Familiarity with first aid procedures including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation is preferred
- Experience teaching physical education or working within health clubs or gym environments is a plus
- Strong communication skills necessary for effective client (player/parent) interaction and team leadership
- Background in sports team experience such as cheerleading or climbing enhances your ability to motivate diverse groups of students
