Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, 26,000 Stick Shift, flatbeds, and other specialized equipment for local and regional deliveries
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and inspection reports in accordance with company policies and safety standards
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving for local or regional deliveries
- Familiarity with flatbed trucks, or other specialty verhicles is preferred
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements
- Skilled in manual transmission driving and manual handling of freight for safe load & unload procedures
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems efficiently for route planning and adjustments
- Experience with freight logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading processes, and delivery driver responsibilities
- Valid CDL-A license with clean driving record; Hazmat certification is a plus but not mandatory initially—training available for qualified candidates
