Duties
- Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems in accordance with schematics and design specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure efficient operation and extend system lifespan
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC system issues using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters and specialized equipment troubleshooting techniques
- Conduct comprehensive system repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, refrigeration, and mechanical components
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to accurately diagnose problems and execute repairs or installations
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs for all performed work
- Support property maintenance activities by repairing mechanical systems, welding components when necessary, and ensuring compliance with safety standards including EPA regulations for refrigerants
Skills
- Proven construction experience with a strong understanding of mechanical systems repair and HVAC system installation
- Service technician experience with hands-on troubleshooting of HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) units
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams accurately for system diagnostics
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles and building automation systems for optimized climate control solutions
- Skilled in plumbing, electrical diagnostics, equipment troubleshooting, and appliance repair related to HVAC systems
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, welding equipment, and ohmmeters
- Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and boiler operation is a plus
- Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or system upgrades
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (<PERSON> driver preferred) for field service assignments
- EPA certification required for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC/R or electrical systems are advantageous
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments while maintaining safety standards
