OBJECTIVE
The Convenience Store Assistant Manager will direct, promote, and coordinate the convenience store in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve our customers in a friendly, efficient manner.

Supervise, train and direct employees in the operation of the store and high-level customer service.

Promote positive culture and ensure effective communication.

Establish work schedules for the daily operation of the store which follow the outlined labor budget.

Screen and interview job applicants and complete performance appraisals on store employees.

Ensure staff has the proper certification as needed, including, but not limited to: Responsible Beverage Server, UST Class C Operator, Serv Safe, etc.

Follow all Serve Safe guidelines in reference to safe food handling for food service offerings. This will include ordering and receiving food service supplies, inventory, scheduling/monitoring food service production, labeling and monitoring levels.

Prepare and process daily paperwork, deposits and invoices as instructed.

Processes all invoices upon delivery by the store’s vendors and is accountable and responsible for minimizing shrink of store inventory.

Maintain adequate inventories by ordering from approved vendors as needed.

Assist in facilitating complete store inventories at other locations as needed.

Follow directives from the Administrative office and branded supplier regarding brand policies, programs, and promotions.

May be required to temporarily fill-in or replace the Manager at another store within the company.

Enforce and uphold the cooperative’s credit policy.

Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Serv-Safe Food Safety Certification

Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer’s expectations.

Must possess basic computer skills to operate scanners, registers, calculators, etc.

Must be able to follow verbal and written directions in regard to paperwork and daily reporting.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with customers and staff, management and vendors.

Above average technical/computer skills are required to work with Patron Points, online sales/delivery and app promotional opportunities.

Experience in inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels.

Knowledge of recruiting techniques to attract qualified candidates for employment.

Previous experience in retail management, demonstrating leadership abilities.

Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve store goals.

Proficiency in managing store operations, including cash handling and opening/closing procedures.

Must be able to lift a minimum of ten (10) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Position requires this candidate to work 40+ hour per week in this non-exempt hourly full-time position.

Schedule includes weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.

Smoke-free environment.

This position is primarily indoors but at times may be exposed to heat/cool outdoor temperatures as well as when entering coolers.

Fast-paced environment requiring frequent bending, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling and lifting overhead and standing up to 9 hours per day.
