We are currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Land Surveying Crew Chief to lead field operations for residential boundary and construction staking projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Field Operations: Safely and efficiently operate field equipment (Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS/GNSS, Robotic Total Stations) to complete boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction layout surveys.
- Maintain High Precision: Perform residential boundary locations, property corner resetting, and construction staking (foundations, utilities, site grading, and roadways) with minimal supervisor oversight.
- Ensure Field Quality Control: Verify field calculations, maintain detailed and accurate field notes, and cross-reference plans and deeds on-site.
- Demonstrate Leadership & Dependability: Arrive on time every day, manage field crew helpers, maintain company vehicles and field equipment, and represent the company professionally to clients and contractors.
- Honest Communication: Provide transparent, accurate field reports to project managers and address any site anomalies or errors directly and immediately.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum [3–5+] years of experience in land surveying, with at least [1–2+] years operating as a Crew Chief or Lead Instrument Operator.
- Specialized Knowledge: Proven background in residential boundary surveys and construction staking layout.
- Core Values: Uncompromising honesty, personal accountability, and a strong work ethic.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with modern survey gear, preferably Trimble (we can train)
- Licensure/Certifications: SIT (Surveyor in Training) preferred, but strong experience-based candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, walk over rough terrain, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- License: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (Required).
